Allambi Road signCDEA has submitted an objection to a proposed development at 12 Allambi Road, Corinda.  We are concerned, because the site is classified under the Vegetation Management Act 1999 as Essential Habitat for the Koala, listed on the Nature Conservation Act as Vulnerable.  icon Allambi Road (417.9 kB 2011-02-25 07:02:18)

Foxes and other animals

foxDid you know that foxes are a major pest in our bushland area?  So too are deer.  However, there is quite a lot of 'friendly'wildlife as well.

Honours student Kirsty Pappalardo has conducted a survey of the wildlife corridor between the bushland on
Horizon Drive, opposite Peter Lightfoot Oval, the McLeod Golf Course and the Mount Ommaney Bushland Reserve.

Tree in hand

We are campaigning to protect valuable bushland from inappropriate use by special interest groups such as downhill mountain bike riders, who are causing severe environmental damage.  To find out more about our activities click on the relevant menu item.

Current Issues lists the major issues we are working on at present.

Successful Outcomes contains a list of the campaigns we have worked on in the past.  We aren't always successful, but we believe that CDEA has been quite successful in bringing long-term environmental benefits to the Centenary Suburbs.

The Latest News

DandelionOur most recent meeting was held on Thursday 24 May at the Mount Ommaney Library

TOPIC - Wacol weed survey of important ecosystems

Brisbane City Council, through funding provided by the Wipe out Weeds program, commissioned Technigro to conduct a thorough weed survey at Pooh Corner & Wacol bushland conservation reserves & surrounding creek environs in May - June 2011. By conducting this weed survey, a very detailed & scientific account of the current weed issues in these conservation areas has been mapped & delivered. This data can now be used as a basis with which to prioritise any weed management activities & develop management plans, while taking into consideration the level of funds available for these activities.

GUEST SPEAKER - Rob Mollison

Rob Mollison, Brisbane City Council's Technical Officer Natural Environment, discussed the very interesting findings and the implementation of this survey.

If you would like to be on the mailing list for notices of future talks, please contact our secretary.
